Lola, the puppy from Gori who flew over the rainbow

October 15, 2026

Shocking footage is circulating on social media.. It comes from one of Georgia's municipal shelters, specifically the one in Gori. Dozens of hungry, wet and frightened puppies crammed into a single enclosure..

This was footage that left no one unmoved. The next day, activists began taking the puppies out of the shelter in stages..

It was on that very day that I decided to take on the enormous responsibility of caring for three little ones. A responsibility that meant preparing myself for every possible scenario. Imagine a place where no standards of sanitation or hygiene are upheld at all. A place where an unvaccinated puppy could, to put it colloquially, pick up anything.

By that evening, three puppies rescued from just such a place were already in my home. Today, I want to tell you about one of them.. A puppy I will never forget.

It was love at first sight..  Here was a puppy who, despite all the suffering she had endured, looked at the camera with mischievous, sweet eyes.

And I made the decision to change her life for the better.

When the activist lifted her out of the car for me, she looked so calm and carefree, as though she had always lived a happy life and had never known any pain. I held her close to my heart and named her Lola. Lola, also known as Snowball.. With a black, teardrop-shaped patch at the corner of one eye.  It gave her playful, mischievous expression a slightly melancholy look. I settled her into a crate with the other two puppies, fed them well and turned on the heating.

We made it through that night peacefully. All three were eating well, but I was concerned about their stools. We were very lucky that Buneba clinic took our little ones in completely free of charge.

Lola tested negative for viral enteritis, but sadly, the other two little puppies tested positive.
