Privacy policy
We take the protection of your personal data seriously. Here we explain which data is processed when you visit this website and which rights you have.
Who is responsible
Responsible for data processing on this website is Animal Rescue Georgia, 9 Vasil Petriashvili Street, Tbilisi 0179, Georgia. You can reach us at rescuegeorgiaanimal@gmail.com or +995 598 84 89 20.
Hosting
This website runs on a server in Germany operated by STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin.
Server log files
Each time you visit, the server automatically records technical information: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the page you came from, and your browser and operating system. This is necessary to deliver the website securely and to detect faults and attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The data is not combined with other data and is deleted after a short time.
No cookies when you visit, no tracking
Visiting our website sets no cookies, and we use no analytics or tracking tools. Fonts, scripts, images and videos are loaded from our own server. No data is passed on to Google or other third parties when you visit. This also applies to our videos until you start a YouTube video yourself (see “Videos from YouTube”). Only if you sign in to your account or to our team’s work area does the website set a technically necessary session cookie. It expires when you sign out or close the browser. If you tick “Stay signed in” when signing in to your account, a second technically necessary cookie keeps you signed in on that device for up to 6 months; signing out deletes it. Details are in the sections below.
Your language setting
So that you see the website in your language, your browser saves the language you chose on your own device (local storage). This setting stays on your device and is not transmitted to us. You can delete it at any time in your browser settings.
Videos from YouTube
Our video page and some animal pages show videos from our YouTube channel. As long as you only look at the page, nothing is loaded from YouTube. The preview images come from our own server. Only when you click play is the video loaded from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube is a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. When you start a video, your browser connects to Google’s servers. Your IP address and information about your browser and the video are transmitted, and processing in the USA is also possible. YouTube may then also store information on your device. Google’s privacy policy applies: https://policies.google.com/privacy. The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TDDDG, which you give by clicking play. You can refuse it at any time simply by not starting a video. Our server itself regularly fetches the titles, descriptions and preview images of our own videos from YouTube; no visitor data is transmitted in the process.
Visitor statistics without cookies
To see which pages and animals are read, our own server counts page views. We only store daily totals per page, language and device type (phone or computer), plus the domain of the website you came from. We do not store IP addresses, set no cookies and create no profiles. No data is passed on to third parties. The legal basis is our legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Registering your interest and your account
When you register your interest on an animal page, you create an account with your email address and a password of your choice. We store the details from the form: name, email address, phone and country if given, living situation, experience with animals and your message, and we store your password only in encrypted form. We use them to handle your enquiry and to find the right home for the animal. We send you one email to confirm your address. Messages you exchange with our team in your account are stored as well. Your details are seen only by the staff of Animal Rescue Georgia. If needed, we have your free-text answers and messages translated into our team’s language via the OpenRouter service. You can withdraw enquiries at any time and delete your account with all enquiries yourself. If there is no longer an open enquiry or adoption for you, your account rests and you can no longer sign in until you register for another animal. We then delete a resting account automatically after 6 months, or after 2 years if you have agreed that your details may be kept for future adoptions; only the note that an enquiry for an animal existed remains, without your name or contact details. Failed sign-ins are stored for at most one day with the IP address to fend off attacks. The legal basis is your consent and the preparation of an adoption under Art. 6(1)(a) and (b) GDPR. The same applies to the self-disclosure we ask for once you are shortlisted (including address and date of birth for the adoption contract) and to offers as a flight buddy or foster home via the “Help” page.
Contact by email, phone or WhatsApp
If you contact us, we use the information you send only to answer your enquiry. WhatsApp is a service of WhatsApp Ireland Limited; when you use it, its privacy policy applies. The same applies to our Facebook page, operated by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited.
Donations
Bank transfers are processed by your bank and by our bank, JSC TBC Bank. If you donate via PayPal, the link takes you to PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A., Luxembourg, and PayPal’s privacy policy applies. We only receive the information that PayPal passes on to us for the donation.
Work area for our team
Our team manages the animals in a protected work area. Only there, after signing in, does the website set a technically necessary session cookie, which expires when you sign out or close the browser. For this we store the name, email address and password (encrypted only) of team members, as well as who made which change and when. We store failed sign-in attempts with the IP address for at most one day in order to fend off attacks. Visitors to the website are not affected by this.
Your rights
You have the right to information about your stored data, to correction, deletion and restriction of processing, to data portability and to object to processing (Articles 15 to 21 GDPR). To exercise these rights, simply write to us. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
Changes
Our website is growing. When new features are added, such as the animal database or forms, we will update this privacy policy. Last updated: November 2026.
